The rhipsalis is an interesting trailing succulent with thin, textured growth! It also produces small white flowers in the springtime. This lover of bright, sunny spaces brings a desert feel to any room. Not all cacti live in the desert, and forest or jungle cacti have different care than their cousins. The most commonly seen plants in this group are Christmas and Easter cacti, which bloom around their respective holidays, and the Rhipsalis genus, which is sometimes called a mistletoe cactus. These plants like to stay very pot-bound, and during their growing season they should be thoroughly watered and then allowed to thoroughly dry out. During the dormant season water them very sparingly. They also prefer very strong indirect light, with maybe some morning direct sun. Over time their stems become woody, and it’s common for the bigger stems to crowd out smaller ones as the plant grows.
